Tom Panei

Tom Panei is an artist who is a life-long resident of Butler, PA. His work is ubiquitous in his hometown; appearing on official City signage, adorning walls of several local restaurants and other businesses, and even in Pullman Park, home of the Butler Blue Sox. Numerous pieces created by Tom are held in private collections throughout the United States (including Hawaii), Canada, Italy, and Germany.

While known primarily for his large pastel-on-wood creations, Tom experiments with many materials and techniques. His annual Holiday Art Sale has grown into a major event showcasing Tom's mixed media creations, drawings, and many other works.

Although most of his work is done in the solitude of a tiny servant's quarters building on the property behind his home, Tom enjoys the many opportunities he has to leave the studio and work with aspiring artists. Tom has provided instruction for:

• FAB Showcase (Fine Arts and Beyond), Butler High School – featured artist, live demonstrations - 2006-2011
• Connoquenessing Elementary School – taught art classes and constructed mural with students - 2006
• Butler Catholic - taught art classes, live demonstrations – 2009
• Private Art Lessons – 2005 - 2011

Tom owned and operated his own galleries in both downtown Butler (2005-2007) as well as nearby Slippery Rock, PA (2007). Several pieces are currently on display at From The Hand Gallery in downtown Butler.

Music

Tom is also a veteran singer and songwriter. With his band Mind's I, Tom has produced five albums of original material since the mid 1990's. Tom frequently performs solo acoustic shows, which are promoted through the Mind's I web site and Tom's Facebook page.
